Greatest Playoffs EVER

October 9, 2007

Yes I know the Mets didn’t make it. But that actually seemed to be better for me. No one to be nervous about. I could sit back and enjoy every game. And enjoy them, I did.

Now that Round 1 is over, my predictions proved to be correct in every single series, except for 1. And for once, I don’t care about being wrong. The YANKEES lost! Since I already put it out there, might as well start with that series.

Yes, the Indians were consistent with both offense and defense. And their bullpen was as solid as they could have hoped. Of course, the gnats in Game 2 helped too. The Yankees lost their swing again, where A-Rod once more proved that he can’t deliver in clutch situations. It wasn’t his fault, however. If it weren’t for him, the Yanks never would have even reached. Indians take it in 4. I was really expecting more from the Yanks. But HA.

Might as well continue with the AL. The Red Sox sweep. No surprises there. The best team in the majors proved why they are so. Give some credit to the Angels, they reached the playoffs with a hurt te….actually no. They are from the AL West. They were taking it anyway. The Bo’Sox held them down to scoring in only 2 innings. Complete domination from the beginning. That kid in Game 2 who caught the ball is probably the second most popular person in all of Boston after Manny Ramirez, who put up monster numbers. With a team that includes Beckett and Schilling as two of your pitchers, it will be hard to imagine the Indians doing much against them.

So no Yanks-Red Sox super-exciting series this year. Bah, at least the better team got through.

On to the National League. I am totally jumping on the Colorado Rockies bandwagon. Not only did they CRUSH the Phillies (a team I now hate more than the Yanks, maybe as much as the Braves), but they look like a team of destiny. Very much so like the Red Sox in 04. Like the White Sox in 05. Yes even like the Cardinals, since once they overcame the greatest team last year, they swept the A.L. best Tigers. Destiny. World Series. Winners. ROCKIES.

And for some odd reason I HATE the Cubs. I don’t know why. Always have. If I ever moved to Chicago, I would be a White Sox fan. So the Diamondbacks took them out, too. Like I said, these are the greatest playoffs.  EVER.

Nothing AMAZIN’ this October

October 3, 2007

So now that the tears have been dried, and the shock has sunk in, I can take a real good look at the MLB playoffs this year.  After an already exciting one-game playoff between the Rockies and the Padres, the rest of this October better be good. How good can it be though? The Phillies are in it. Ok ok, nothing but hatred here.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Boston Red Sox
How do the Angels always sneak their way into the playoffs? I have a soft spot for the Angels, as they have proven time and time again how they can beat the Yanks for some reason. This Red Sox team isn’t one of destiny like the one back in 2004, but they certainly were consistent this season. They’re making it past the first round. Even past that consistent Angels defense. Winner: Bo’Sox

Cleveland Indians vs. New York Yankees
Maybe I shouldn’t be doing this blog at all. The only thing that hurt more than the Mets having the worst blown division in forever is that the DAMN YANKEES made it. They were doing horrible all season, and managed to have a spectacular second half and become the wild card. Never mind that they didn’t win the division, this team is better than last year’s Yankees.

The Indians, on the other hand, have been pretty consistent this year. Consistent enough to get the Bombers, who have beat them 6 times this year? As much as it pains me to say it, I don’t think so. Even if A-Rod chokes. The rest of the Yanks are good enough without him. Winner: Yanks

Which leads to the best series known to sports! An ALCS of Red Sox vs. Yankees. Can’t wait.

Chicago Cubs vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Back when we still had playoff hopes (a whole week ago), I sincerely feared the D-Backs. Ok, more like feared Brandon Webb. Cy Young winner? Well at least he should be. They are the better team overall. But the Cubs? Oh the cubbies. Chicago, why do you love them so? It’s been heartbreak after heartbreak, far worse than that which us Met fans are feeling right now. I guess I can sort of relate as to why you still love them, and hold on. Well with Pinella on your side, this series canNOT be boring. Winner: D-backs

Colorado Rockies vs. Philadelphia Phillies
seriously? I already ordered my Rockies cap from LIDS. I don’t even want to think of a possible Phillies win. Oh man, but with Howard and Rollins and Utley and Burrell, they pretty much have it down. But who cares? It’s my blog, my dream series. Let’s tap the rockies. Winner: Rockies

So life continues for us Mets fans. Just heard that Randolph is not being fired. Big mistake, Omar. BIG MISTAKE. Get rid of Delgado, please. Sign Castro. Sign Milledge. Get another starter. Heard Santana is avaliable. I’ll trade anyone for him!! ….and how about a freakin’ bullpen?!! I knew when we did nothing before the trade deadline, that it was going to cost us in the end. And it did.

I feel like it’s the 90’s again. I remember being a Mets fan and being ridiculed everyday by the big mean Yankees fans. Sorry if I got arrogant and started making fun of the Yankees this year. I know you got the last laugh, but its not just that, I didn’t want to become a fan like that. I don’t want anyone else to feel this pain. Well, back to work. Mets in ‘08.
