9 Days Until Pitchers/Catchers…

February 5, 2008

So allow me to perform a quick update.

Granted, if I weren’t stuck at home with a ridiculous flu, I wouldn’t even be updating this thing. I’ve been crazy-busy lately, spending time between work, visiting my mom (she’s back in a nursing home), taking care of her affairs, law school applications, taking care of Amanda, and starting my taxes. And of course the weekends are reserved for paparazzi like situations which more often than not includes alcohol.

So what are the main themes these days? The New York Giants of course. In one of the most amazing games in history, and definitely the greatest game I have ever seen, they upset the Patriots. I will never, EVER forget Manning getting out of that potential sack and throwing the ball to Tyree. That catch was amazing in itself, with an Endy Chavezesque moment. The parade today was awesome, I guess I should count my blessings that in being sick, I got to miss work and watch the whole thing. Mayor Bloomberg stating, “The Giants season wasn’t perfect…but no one’s was! NOT THIS YEAR!” was the second best moment, aside from Stranhan stating that we gave the Patriots, “THE STOMP!” Almost as cool as that Reebok commercial which ran after the Superbowl, where the 1972 Dolphins were assured by Eli that they can enjoy another year of being the only perfect team ever. Not to mention, my boss was going nuts on screen too. (“Gooooooo BLUEEEEEEEEEEE”)

Aside from it being the Giants big day, it is also Super Tuesday. I haven’t really publically said my political affilation up to this point for this year’s presidential race. Unfortunately, NY is a closed primary, and I am a registered Independent. No voting for me today! (Not sure how I could have made it anyway, considering every time I attempt to stand up, I get a coughing fit). I am a moderate though, so that means no Romney for me (too conservative) and no Senator Obama (too liberal). Senator McCain would be ok, but I’m tired of the Republicans making up the Executive Branch. So Senator Clinton is my candidate. So my vote wouldn’t have mattered anyway, as I see Senator Clinton has 54% of the NY vote right now. She most closely resembles my political views. I don’t feel really strongly behind her, but she’s the best choice.

voteforclinton.jpgYes I notice the sexism in this. Vote for her anyway.

One more thing that’s been on my mind lately. Tomorrow starts the Lenten Season. I’m not a stickler for Catholism, but Lent is something I follow every year. I really like the idea of sacrificing for 6 weeks. Last year, it was facebook and myspace, and I thought nothing would be harder than that. This year though, I may have topped that. I am giving up meats and dairy. I was originally only going to give up meat (that includes red and white meat mind you), but my co-worker, a bride to be in April, one upped me and added dairy, so I agreed to do it too. The worst thing about being sick is that I didn’t get to enjoy my last 2 days of eating lots of dead animals. Note: I hate salads. So this should be an interesting experiment. (Tofugurt doesn’t really sound like the most appeasing snack either…)

Aside from that, not much. Perhaps I should go back to writing. This short passage definitely showed me I miss it.
